ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Brush up on your musical skills.

Orchestra Workshop is an Arizona Western College orchestral class that teaches the very beginner up through the three to five year string player. Students learn:

 
  • to read music
  • the fundamentals of basic music theory
  • and ensemble playing on violin, viola, cello, or bass

The Yuma Orchestra Association has a scholarship and instrument loan program to help ease the costs.


Two AWC Orchestra Workshop sessions are available:

The Orchestra Workshop session at Cibola High School is held on Thursday evenings from 5:15 pm - 6:30 pm. It is divided into three levels of playing expertise. Call  Janet Jones at (928) 246-6715 for information.

The AWC Workshop classes at the AWC music building are provided on Thursday evenings for anyone in the 4th grade and above. Call Margaret Fenske at (928) 261-6444. Orchestra Workshop level 1 - 3:45pm - 4:50pm in AWC music building room 103 (this is a 12 week session and a late start class)

Orchestra Workshop level 2 - 5:00pm - 6:40pm in AWC music building room 102 String Ensemble - 6:50pm - 9:20pm in AWC music building room 102

Either instructor can give you information to help you choose the class that is best suited to your needs, location, and time schedule.
